Verbreitung

L 98 (Datz 6/1992); Fundort: Rio Xingu, Pará, Brasilien; „Zebra differente“.

L 158 (DATZ 3/1994); Rio-Negro-Einzug bei St. Isabel do Rio Negro, Amazonas, Brasilien.

L-numbers - new from the kind Hypancistrus (part of 1) To the most popular l-l-Welsen the Hypancistrus kinds belong. We give an overview of the kind and deal briefly with their geographical spreading. In addition we regarded and can the teeth of these Allesfresser more near some misunderstandings and incorrect information to dentures structure and kind allocation settle. The characterisation of the kind Hypancistrus does not turn out as completely simply. Isbruecker & Nijssen (1991) called a different tooth number in upper and lower jaws as only generictypical characteristic. The Oberkiefer carries with Hypancistrus more teeth. Armbruster (2002) has in its description of Hypancistrus inspector pointed out that a different number of teeth in both Kiefern seems to the family Loricariidae also with other kinds and is pronounced at young animals this characteristic in addition with H. inspector only, during adulte animals a same tooth number in upper and lower jaws would possess. After our opinion it concerns with the animals regarded by Armbruster in its work individuals of two different kinds. We determined clearly different tooth numbers in upper and lower jaws in investigations of museum copies of this kind (L 4/5, L 28, L 66, L 260, L 316, L 333, L 399 and L 400) in the zoo-logical national collection Munich at all animals - juvenilen both and adulten -. The number of the teeth in the Oberkiefer is higher with each animal. Armbruster redefined and two characteristics called the kind Hypancistrus: That range of the Hyomandibulare (a bone, which connects the Kiefer with fish with the head bone by muscles and chords; with mammals the Hyomandibulare has itself to an auditory ossicle further developed), at that the Musculus adductor palatini (one that muscles, which connect the Hyomandibulare with the palate leg = Palatinum) sets, is clearly comblike bended. The second characteristic is the large distance between two bones in the head area - the Metapterygoid, which belongs to the Kieferapparat, and which Ethmoidale, the siebbein, a head bone. Armbruster also announced to split up Hypancistrus in two different kinds but then in a current work (Armbruster 2004) refrained from it. All systematics of the family Loricariidae are still very unclear in large parts, and in the near future surely new realizations and changes are to be expected. At present many questions are open. With these distinguishers a Aquarianer can begin anyway only little. In addition, Armbruster called characteristics, in order to differentiate Hypancistrus from certain other kinds to. For us here above all the demarcation is to Panaque and Panaqolus (this kind recognizes Armbruster not on and places it to Panaque) as well as to Peckoltia interesting. From Panaque and Panaqolus Hypancistrus differs by the absence of loeffelfoermiger teeth and from Peckoltia by a smaller number of bone plates in the tail zone. Peckoltia kinds exhibit almost completely a Abdominalbereich covered with bone plates. The generic distinctions are not completely simple also on the basis these characteristics for the Aquarianer. But one learns with the time to assign relatively surely the small l-l-Welse alone on the basis the Gesamthabitus to the kinds mentioned even if one cannot justify that always essentially. Mistakes occur naturally again and again once. It interested us how individual kinds, which are awarded at present to the kind Hypancistrus, differ in their Bezahnung whether there are possibly groups within the kind, which one can keep apart on the basis the teeth, and whether differences of the Bezahnung between the sexes can be found. A further interesting aspect is the question about a ageconditioned tooth change: Does it give a Juvenilgebiss? Does a reduction of the Kieferbezahnung in the different age stages take place, how it determined Armbruster in the description of H. inspector allegedly? The Kieferbezahnung Scott shepherd points out that the counting of the teeth can represent a very unreliable characteristic, since relatively on the one hand teeth lost easily to go and on the other hand the spare teeth very near at the appropriate old teeth to step out be able. First represents the larger uncertainty after our experiences reliably. One can eliminate this source of error however, by taking in account the lost tooth on the basis the still existing tooth base. For the counting only upright standing "old teeth" are consulted. We examined animals of the following l-numbers: L 4/L 5, L 66, L 129, L 260, L 316, L 333, L 399 and L 400. The moreover we made tooth countings at L 28, L 199 and L 318. We made pictures under the scanning electron microscope because of the expenditure unfortunately only from few teeth. All regarded kinds possess tooth crowns with two points. The point convenient to the muzzle center is usually the longer. With most of the examined kinds the two internal teeth are larger in the lower jaw than the outside following. All compared kinds carry in the Oberkiefer more teeth than in the lower jaw - as with Isbruecker & Nijssen described. Regarding the tooth number it is noticeable above all that it is lower with all regarded Hypancistrus kinds than with the kind used near Peckoltia. Between the individual kinds there are also differences regarding the tooth profile: ? L 4/L 5 (ZSM 26674, ZSM 27449, ZSM 26371): The outside teeth in the Oberkiefer of L 4/L 5 are noticeable by the fact that the shorter point is nearly completely reduced. The internal teeth of the Oberkiefers possess a normally developed second point, which is only little shorter than lain the inside. The tooth crowns of the lower jaws are deeply split, the two points slim and relatively blunt. ? L 66 (ZSM 29272, ZSM 33177): With L 66 the two points of the Oberkieferzaehne are formed directly, the smaller reach however only about up to the half of the length of the larger to them near. In the lower jaw the much shorter tip of a tooth almost points a spitzwinkelige triangle form to (photo page 6 down) and lets the longer point thereby appear blunt. ? L 129 (ZSM 32869): L 129 is noticeable by widened longer points of the Oberkieferzaehne. They remind of the spoon-shaped teeth of some Hypostomus kinds, how described with Muller & webers. The shorter part is very spitzwinkelig for it. In the lower jaw as with L 66 the shorter point than triangle steps out, but is not not completely so pointedly taken off it. The regarded animal had few teeth, similarly L 316. ? L 260 (ZSM 30488): With L 260 one finds in the Oberkiefer teeth with rounded longer point, in the lower jaw very narrow, nearly gleichspitzige. The number of the teeth is very near because of the values found with H. zebra. ? L 316 (ZSM 32893): With L 316 the reduction of the number seems to have quite far progressed with approximately twelve teeth in the Oberkiefer and eight teeth in the lower jaw. It would be interesting to regard the here still missing kinds of the kind going by. The internal teeth of the lower jaw are not larger with this kind than beside it. ? L 333 (ZSM 30382, ZSM 30498, ZSM 30301, ZSM 32881, ZSM 30302): L 333 possesses very long tooth crowns with a clearly longer point, which is only easily rounded in the lower jaw; the shorter part is the more pointed. A characteristic are the internal teeth of the lower jaw, which are clearly smaller than their neighbours. In the Oberkiefer only the internal teeth are noticeable, since they carry equal long points. ? L 399 and L 400 (ZSM 32873, ZSM 32882, ZSM 32889, ZSM 32885, ZSM 32887): L 399 and L 400 can hardly be differentiated on the basis the tooth profile. Whether the found differences are meaningful in the tooth number, can be judged with only 15 examined copies not finally. The two internal teeth of the Oberkiefers are clearly smaller than the outside following, and the points are equivalent long. The remaining Oberkieferzaehne is inconspicuous, and the longer point is twice as long like the shorter. The teeth of the lower jaw are rather blunt; the laengenverhaeltnisse - be enough opposite short point - vary between the individual individuals strongly. ? Hypancistrus zebra (ZSM 27771): For H. zebra we can confirm the data from the Erstbeschreibung, even if none possesses examined animals as many teeth as indicated in the description for possible. The two points of the teeth are nearly equivalent long and from similar shape. We determined the sexes on the basis the Genitalpapille, which determine tooth number separately. We determined however no difference between the sexes here - also not between animals different age. That is however perhaps also because of the fact that animals sufficient not attained full growth confessed for order. We cannot supply after our investigations due to material lacking significant results, but grant a good view. The sex specific comparisons at H. zebra resulted in no differences in tooth structure and tooth number. The thesis that the tooth number reduces ageconditionally, set up by Armbruster, cannot be supported after our views also. We assume that the description took place from H. inspector on the basis of two near related kinds; the strongly deviating tooth number in the Oberkiefer, determined by Armbruster, might represent a difference between these two kinds and no ageconditioned reduction. We determined a agespecific reduction of the Kieferbezahnung with none of the kinds examined by us and observed rather contrary; but around the research to continue, we need first further comparison material. Individual kinds on the basis the number of the Kieferzaehne to differentiate seems to us too uncertainly, since the numbers do not vary innerartlich much and with teeth possibly failed correct results to be obtained are. An additional determination of individual kinds on the basis the structure of their teeth with scientific methods could prove as interesting, since we determined quite specific differences with the tooth profile. Colouring and design The kinds of the kind Hypancistrus on the basis the colouring to differentiate is almost impossible. The innerartliche variability of the design sample and the colouring is too large, in order to permit accurate kind regulations, so that it seems more meaningful to orient itself at figure characteristics. We deal briefly nevertheless with the color forms. During the preparation of this article it noticed to us that in the river systems, which several representatives of the kind Hypancistrus beheimaten in each case, which often shows different kinds a quite similar color and design sample: ? All Hypancistrus kinds from the Rio Xingu including the Rio Iriri (H. zebra, L 66, L 173, L 174, L 236, L 250, L 333, L 399, L 400) carry a bright grundfaerbung with black strips or dark line design. ? The two well-known kinds L 316 and L 318 from the Rio Jari show a bright worm line sample on black or dark body. ? The kinds Hypancistrus inspector, L 102, L 136 and L 158 from the Rio Negro introduction (Rio Negro, Rio Demini, Río Casiquiare) have all a white to yellowish point sample on dark to black body. ? L 260 and L 262 from the Rio Tapajós point the same color dress to (a dark grundfaerbung, verziert with bright design elements), differ however by the line and Puenktchenmuster. Since however with both kinds the body design is very fine and breaks open with adulten copies of L 260 the very narrow line sample and can show Puenktchen, we combine the two kinds here into a group. ? The forms of the Río Orinoco introduction represent an exception. There darkly colored kinds with bright line sample (L 129, L 199 and L 340) come as well as animals with white to yellowish point sample on dark reason (of L 201 and L 339) forwards. An explanation for the fact could lie in the fact that determined itself forms over the Casiquiare, which, away spread connection between Orinoco and Negro system. ? The Rio DO Pará introduction accommodates just as two groups with deviating design samples: L 73 (dark body colouring with bright Puenktchen) and the two forms L 287 and L 345 colored with bright grundfaerbung and black line sample. From the two kinds specified last there are unfortunately no accurate discovery site data. There is the possibility that the animals in one of the numerous supplies or Furos (channels), which with the Amazon in connection are partly located imprisoned are. We do not want to speculate here upon the proximity of the relationship under the individual kinds on the basis of the similar design and color patterns. If the verwandtschaftsverhaeltnisse of the similarly colored kinds should be compared however once on the basis genetic investigations, here surely interesting results are to be expected. Spreading The l-l-Welse of the kind Hypancistrus inhabit a far circulation area in the enormous current systems of Rio Amazon and Río Orinoco (maps page 7). In the Amazon introduction they seem to Rio Iriri (L 236, L 250) in the clear water stream of the Rio Xingu (L 46, L 66, L 173, L 333, L 399, L 400), Rio Tocantins (L 4/L 5), Rio Tapajós (L 260, L 262), Rio Curuá Una (L 270), Rio Jari (L 316, L 318), Rio Guamá (L 28), Rio DO Pará (L 73, L 287, L 345) and their tributaries. In addition, from the Rio Takutu, the Rio Demini (L 136) the Río Casiquiare (Hypancistrus inspector), which among the Rio Negro system rank, are Hypancistrus kinds well-known. Most Hypancistrus from this region inhabits clear or combined sewage even rivers. In the black water of the Rio Negro only few kinds are in a very much limited area imprisoned (L 102, L 158). L 297 originates from the Rio Aripuanã in the larva Irish Republican Army introduction. In the Orinoco system animals from the Río Orinoco (L 199, L 201, L 339) were found, to the Río Ventuari (L 199, L 201), the Río Tomo (L 340) and the Río Bita (L 129). Until today are no discovery sites from the Río Magdalena introduction, the Rio São Francisco, which catchment area of Rio Paraná and Rio Paraguai as well as from the andinen ranges of the Amazon system well-known. This small Harnischwelse inhabits above all the more strongly flowing sections of the rivers and is there between stones in the middle depth zones. Some kinds, about Hypancistrus zebra, occur even in larger depths. Hypancistrus become individually imprisoned with the hand. The faenger "kitzeln" the animals with small Stoeckchen from their hiding places. With the catch of kinds living in the deeper zones the faenger dip on the reason of the rivers down and from the boat by means of compressor via long hoses with breathing air are supplied. This kind of the Harnischwelsfangs is not completely harmless. The individual kinds At present the kind Hypancistrus, which was only set up in the year 1991 by the Netherlands Ichthyologen Isaaec J. H. Isbruecker and Han Nijssen, from two described kinds, H. zebra and H. exists inspector. Hypancistrus zebra is the kind of type. For three further kinds Armbruster announced descriptions; they might appear in foreseeable time. In the Aquaristik are at present 29 further kinds well-known, which were provided with l-numbers; further wait for to be introduced. We know the highest number of Hypancistrus kinds from the Rio Xingu. That is not amazing, because since over 15 years commercial aquarium fishing is operated there. The other Brazilian rivers, for example Rio Jari, Rio Tocantins or Rio Araguaia, are in this connection rather stiefmuetterlich treated. One can count on the fact that particularly in the deeper zones of these rivers still or other kind waits for its discovery. The described kinds Hypancistrus zebra Isbruecker & Nijssen, 1991 (L 46, Datz 9/1989); Discovery site: Rio Xingu, Altamira to Belo Monte. L 46 is one of the most well-known and most popular representatives of the family Loricariidae. Over no other Harnischwels as over H. zebra was as much written. The discovery in the year 1988 released to today continuous Harnischwels boom with and for Brazilian fish export your the new market opened. Unfortunately the popularity of the Zebraharnischwelses has also its shade sides. The Brazilian nature protection authority (IBAMA) imposed, based last year a catch and an export prohibition over H. zebra on statements of local Fischfaenger that the Zebraharnischwels at the well-known catch places is not to be found any longer so frequently. Whether the actual cause for the decrease of the existence in the natural Habitat is really the overfishing or whether other reasons are responsible for it, is not today clear until, since there are in addition no large investigations. Hypancistrus inspector Armbruster, 2002; Discovery site: Río Casiquiare. Whether this kind until today went aquaristisch into action or whether it possesses a l-number, is unclear. Several authors equated L 201 in the past with H. inspector, and the name became generally accepted rapidly with the l-Wels-lovers. As now turned out, is a false identification, because Armbruster H. described inspector apparent on the basis of two similarly more colored, near related kinds. The type material (Holotypus and Paratypen), which for the description of kind of H. inspector is relevant, originates from the Río Casiquiare (Rio Negro introduction) and has standart lengths of 8,63 to 12.59 centimeters. The non--types come from the Río Orinoco and the Río Ventuari (Río Orinoco introduction), and the standart lengths are enough from 4,59 to 6.12 centimeters. In the discussion of its work Armbruster deals also with the Kieferbezahnung. The table (its illustration 3) clarifies the differences between the copies from the Orinoco introduction and the Casiquiare. The non--types from the Orinoco introduction possess clearly a higher number of teeth than the type material from the Casiquiare, with which the teeth are more strongly reduced and which are partly equivalent high number of the teeth in upper and lower jaws. Armbruster comes to the conclusion that (allegedly) copies of H. juvenilen inspector a higher number of teeth possess, which with growing up reduce. We never determined such a drastic reduction of the tooth number when investigations at animals of several Hypancistrus kinds and different age stages with Adulti compared with young animals. Kinds with l-numbers L 4/L 5 (Datz 12/1988); Discovery site: Rio Tocantins with Cametá, Pará, Brazil; "Picota". L 4 and L 5 represent the same kind in the colouring of different age stages. Seidel (2000) assumes that L 4/L 5, L 28 and L represent 73 representatives the same kind of different discovery sites. After the investigation of material deposited in the zoo-logical national collection Munich are we the opinion that it concerns in each case with L 4/L 5, L 28 and L 73 independent kinds, because there is clear differences in lip length to constitute addendum and broad and further body-structural characteristics which are recognizable with the naked eye partly also (a complete listing of the differences would blow up the framework of this article). L 28 (Datz 7/1989); Discovery site: Rio Guamá with Ourém, Pará, Brazil, "Picota". L 28 is coloured very similar to L 4/L 5 from the Rio Tocantins and L 73 from the Rio DO Pará introduction. The three kinds mentioned can be differentiated only on the basis koeperbaulichen characteristics (see also L 4/L 5). Frequently the animals are frequently still offered as "Peckoltia angelicus". L 66 (Datz 9/1990); Discovery site: Rio Xingu, Belo Monte to Vitoria, Pará, Brazil; "Acary Pão". L 66 is one at the most frequent imported representative of the kind and in the Aquaristik far common. Seidel (2001) reported already in detail on the kind and its successful vermehrung. It is not correct however that the animals on died wood trunks are to be found and therefore in Brazil "Acari Pau" ("wood Harnischwels") are called. Here it probably gave a misunderstanding during the information transfer. The usual name for L 66, used by the Brazilian Fischfaengern, is "Acary Pão". Pão is the Portuguese word for bread; thus meant "Acary Pão" freely translates "bread Harnischwels". L 66 carries this strange name however only, because Fischer, who has the kind as the first imprisoned, with pointed name "Pão" is called and it with the faengern is usual to designate again found kinds after their "discoverers". L 70 (Datz 10/1990); Environment of Santarém (Rio Tapajós?), Pará, Brazil. L 70 is surely not a most attractive representative of its kind. It is interesting nevertheless, since it concerns the only well-known Hypancistrus kind, which is uniformly grey colored and exhibits for no design sample. The dark colouring brought in L 70 for the not less dark trivial name "Zombie Pleco". Game catch animals are imported only rarely, and whether the indication of discovery site is actually correct "Rio Tapa jós", it is not so far secured. Anyhow L 70 is resident in the closer environment of the Brazilian port Santarém. The kind seems to be very productive. Thus the Austrian Aquarianerin Kerstin Schicho reported that with it out of a clutch of eggs 73 young animals slipped. L 73 (Datz 11/1990); Rio DO Pará in the environment of Portel. Seidel (2000) reported on a successful offspring. L 73 should be very productive with clutches of eggs, which cover eggs up to 65. For further information see under the similar kinds L 4/L 5 and L 28. L 98 (Datz 6/1992); Discovery site: Rio Xingu, Pará, Brazil; "zebra differente". With L 98 it acts in all probability around a unnormal colored copy of H. zebra. There is a photo, which was published in a Japanese aquarium magazine at the beginning of the 1990-er years and which show two copies of L 98, but since the conception no more further such drawn animals were imported. The fact that L 98 with a h-zebra-female deviating easily likewise in the design provided for new generation, which was colored "normally" leaves on the fact to close that it actually concerns with this l-number H. zebra. however perhaps - the Rio Xingu saves nevertheless still or other "l-numeric" surprise for us? L 102 (Datz 7/1992); Discovery site: Rio Negro (with Barcelos?), Amazon, Brazil. L of 102 reached up to 18 centimeters of total length and is thereby the largest well-known Hypancistrus kind. Although L 102 is offered rather frequently by in one from residents the export your, the exact discovery site until today is not well-known. Its size and the number of the Kieferzaehne let assume that L is more near to H. inspector related 102. L 129 (Datz 5/1993); Discovery site: Río Bita, Vichada, Colombia, and/or Río Cinaruco, Apure, Venezuela. From the middle Orinoco introduction the remaining small kind L 129 comes. While Colombian export your the Río Bita, a river, which flows in the proximity of Puerto Carreño into the Orinoco, when it indicates discovery site venezolanischen export your mentions that the kind seems in the Río Cinaruco, likewise western the Orinoco supply with Puerto Carreño. Which discovery site is correct or whether L is resident 129 in both rivers, we cannot say. A similar kind is L 340, which seems in direct proximity, in the Río Tomo. L 136 (Datz 8/1993 and Datz 7/1994); Rio Demini, Amazon, Brazil. L 136 is the only l-number, with which by the additives A, b and C to different design variants one refers. With all three color forms it concerns the same kind. Mario William (coming village), who L 136 regularly pulls tight, the kind in the natural habitat in the Rio Demini (Rio Negro introduction) observed. Adults of copies of the color variants A and b are it according to at wood deposits, juvenile individuals of L 136 A more frequently between rock rock. The variant C however sighted William only at the low water time into approximately five meters depth of water. L 158 (DATZ 3/1994); Rio Negro introduction with pc. Isabel DO Rio Negro, Amazon, Brazil. Seidel (2000) assumes that it concerns with L 158, L 136 A and L 136 b a kind. After new imported goods and the direct comparison of L 158 and L 136 we regard L 158 as independent kind. The lip length of L 158 is clearly smaller and the tail handle higher and more briefly, so that the entire figure works more compact. The kind is imported only rarely. L 173 (Datz 8/1994); Discovery site: Rio Xingu with Belo Monte, Pará, Brazil; "zebra Differente". L 173 is a further characteristic from the "Hypancistrus Eldorado" Belo Monte at the Rio Xingu. During the preparations for the Datz special edition "all l-numbers" we regarded due to Seidels assumption (2000) and the fact that after the original conception again an in such a manner colored copy had been never imported, to L 173 as h-zebra-Farbvariante. Our surprise was all the larger, as center 2004 several copies of L 173 in import endings emerged. Particularly juvenile and subadulte L 173 remind from the color dress still very strongly of H. zebra, so that one could actually assume, it concern deviating colored Zebraharnischwelse. Compared with L 46 173 however by far longer taken off outside Caudalstrahlen exhibit adulte L, and they achieve a clearly larger overall length with twelve centimeters also. L 174 (Datz 8/1994); Discovery site: Rio Xingu, Belo Monte to Altamira, Pará, Brazil. L 174 with its scarcely sieved to eight centimeters of total length might be the smallest Hypancistrus kind. The Winzling becomes imprisoned reports according to in the deeper zones of the Rio Xingu with Belo Monte. The offspring is already successful, but the kind seems to be rather unproductive due to its small size. Conclusion follows Autor:Walter Lechner, Matthias's violonist and André Werner
We do not want to s
